Check your space heater to make sure it’s not one of 2.5 million recently recalled.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled
almost 2.5 million faulty space heaters throughout the year. And now
that the weather outside is growing frightful, the commission wants you
to make sure yours isn’t one that can short out, overheat, smoke, burn,
melt, and otherwise cause house fires.

Living in the South End is great however lately our area is experiencing a significant spike in break-ins and
muggings during peak foot traffic & daylight hours.
WE CAN KILL THIS RASH AS
EASILY AS WE HAVE BEFORE WITH A FEW SIMPLE STEPS:
1) Report any suspicious
activity to 911 immediately (617.343.4911 from cell phone) -- there need not
be an actual crime committed to prompt a call into 911! If something
doesn't look right it probably isn't, and too often folks notice something
amiss before a crime is committed but never bother alerting police. It’s always
best to take 30 seconds & give police a heads-up to investigate. More
calls to 911 will increase regular police presence in the neighborhood.
2) Walk without earbuds
or talking on cellphone.
4) Keep electronics out
of sight at home & in the car, keep window curtains closed when out.
5) Keep lights ON
indoors & out at night -- light is the #1 deterrent of crime.

neighborhood crimewatch organizations. Reply anytime to be removed, add a

Treat yourself to a
night out at your favorite restaurant during Restaurant Week.
Recent events hitting both the US financial
markets and in Europe are likely to cause many to go on a "dinning
out diet"
however here"s something to salivate over, Boston's Restaurant Week.
Each year around this time more than
200 participating restaurants offer Prix Fixe menus for just
$33.11 per person. Think of it as our own
little local stimulus package, for both our restaurants and for
you the diners.
The event runs Sunday, Aug. 14 through Friday, Aug. 19, and
again Aug. 21 - 26. Morton's
Steakhouse, 224
Boston, Davio's at
Patriot Place, Venezia,
restaurants of
the North End, South End, South Boston and even across the river
in Cambridge
are just some of the dining spots. For those seeking to be yet a
little more frugal
during these times, or just care for lighter fare, many are also
offering lunch
menus where you can enjoy a two-course lunch for $15.11 and a
three-course
lunch priced at $20.11.
Check out BostonUsa.com's Restaurant Week
guide to
assist you in planning your night out. There you will find all
participating
restaurants and menus. Reservations are recommended and maybe
required with
some restaurants so make a quick call to check with the front
desk. A word to
the wise, some restaurants are very popular year round and
unfortunately never
seem to manage reservations very well, so do consider an early
dinner (before
7pm) and use the extra time for a leisurely walk.
If your visiting Boston for July 4th and wondering where the best seats are for viewing the fireworks... my suggestion is that you hit the water in a Paddle Boston kayak; and bring along a radio to tune into the music from the Boston Pops. From the open water, you'll be able to get away from the crowds and have some of the very best unobstructed views possible. So unless you have a good friend or other contact who
will be taking their boat into the Charles River, consider this family
fun alternative. A canoe or kayak on the Charles River is by far the
best seat in the house for Boston's Fourth of July Fireworks. The event
organizers welcome boaters, and the view can't be beat! Whether you are a
couple looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Esplanade,
or a family spending time together, we have a boat that fits! From
single or double kayaks to canoes that seat up to five adults, Paddle
Boston offers many types of human powered boats to accommodate your
needs . They can even offer a guided Ten-Person Canoe Tour!
Is winter a bad time to sell real estate? Generally speaking there no unless that is you live where Parking Space savers are common practice such as in certain Boston Neighborhoods and other cities and towns ( Southie, Medford, & Somerville to name just a few). The reason being that the practice is a clear indicator how un-neighborly folks can be. An agent in our office reported recently how she was verbally assaulted on the street for pulling into as parking space to show a property across the street and ended up finding another place around the corner. Fortunate for her that she did not have the buyer in the car. Can you imagine what a first impression of living on that street would have been? So unless you have to, my recommendation is that if you live on a street or area where Parking Savers are common, that you put it off until the snow and the neighbors thaw out some.
